What works today, and how long it lasts
Invoicing and getting paid work in Ireland from day one: there is no obligation to send a structured invoice between businesses yet. Three things we cannot do, and we say them before you create an account — electronic invoicing, which becomes mandatory in phases from 1 November 2028, the annual return and the VAT3 return.

Electronic invoicing
Supplying the public sector already requires Peppol, and we are not a Peppol provider. For business-to-business it arrives in phases: 1 November 2028 for large companies, 1 November 2029 for all VAT-registered traders in intra-EU trade, and 1 July 2030 under the full ViDA rules, in EN 16931 over Peppol.
- TodayYou can invoice and get paid with LegaSum.
- From 1 November 2028Large companies first, then all VAT-registered traders in intra-EU trade a year later. If it is not us by then, it will be someone else — and we will say so here.
What you can use today
liveInvoices with a payment linkThere is no obligation to send structured electronic invoices between businesses in Ireland yet. You send the invoice, the payment link sits on it, and you get paid. That changes in phases from 1 November 2028 — see below, because it is the one date worth planning around.
liveReminders under Irish law — and it is a ladderMost people know the €40. Irish law gives a ladder: €40 under €1,000, €70 between €1,000 and €10,000, and €100 above that (S.I. 580/2012). On a €50,000 invoice you are entitled to €100, not €40. Interest runs at the ECB reference rate plus 8 points — we look the reference rate up when the reminder is created rather than printing a figure that ages here — and the right is automatic once a valid invoice is 30 days overdue.
liveBank connectionPSD2 applies across the Union and covers Irish banks. Transactions arrive on their own and are reconciled. A bank transaction does not depend on a chart of accounts or on a invoicing channel.
liveCustomers, quotes and due datesCustomer records, quotes, due dates and history. No tax dependency, and none of it changes in 2028.What we are still building
buildingElectronic invoicingSupplying the public sector already requires Peppol, and we are not a Peppol provider. buildingAnnual returnAccounts are filed with the Companies Registration Office alongside the Form B1. Our ledger is Danish, so there are no Irish accounts to file. We have not established whether Irish law prescribes a chart of accounts or whether it is market practice as in the Netherlands — we would rather say that than guess.
buildingVAT3 returnThe return is filed through Revenue Online Service. We do not produce it: the figures sit in a Danish chart of accounts. You can file it yourself or through your accountant, so this blocks part of the product and not the market.
buildingThe four separate 9 % provisionsSection 46 does not have one 9 % rate — it has four, each covering different goods and each with its own validity period. Two have already expired and two run to 31 December 2030. We hold one set of rates per country, so we cannot tell you which of the four applies to your line. Check the schedule, not the number. The VAT rates we hold
Standard 23 %. Reduced 13,5 % for Schedule 3. Nine per cent — in four separate provisions, which is the point above. Livestock at 4,8 %, which under the Act also covers live greyhounds and the hire of horses. And zero for Schedule 2: bread, vegetables, meat, books, newspapers, children's clothing, medical equipment. In Ireland zero is a domestic rate you choose on a line — not a status, as it is in Poland.

Why we write it this way
An accounting tool does not notice its own mistakes: the customer does, or nobody does. So this page carries a date for what expires and a name for what we have not established. When we can send through a Peppol provider, we will write it here — with the date.
